Founded in 1885 by two brothers, Robert and Otto Becker, the company initially built components and equipment for the chemical and textile industry in Wuppertal, Germany. With time, Becker grew its operations, manufacturing processes and products, to incorporate vacuum and pressure devices into its product portfolio. Since 1975 the company steadily focused on global presence, and opened new subsidiaries worldwide to expand its widespread international sales network and became an enterprise capable of producing more than 120,000 vacuum pumps and systems per year.

At present, Becker has 16 subsidiaries covering every major market around the world, with its manufacturing plants in Wuppertal, Germany, and Shanghai, China.

The company offers diverse lines of standard and highly customized vacuum pumps, compressors and central systems. Besides, Becker’s oil-free vacuum pumps for medical technology are a true innovation, operating with virtually no dependence on time-to-time maintenance. Concurrently, Becker ensures seamless integration of its vacuum and blast air components with products offered by many OEMs. For instance, OEMs have integrated the Becker’s central suction system into their scope of medical gas supply systems to facilitate suction for surgery or anesthetic gas scavenging in clinics, respectively. At the same time, Becker also provides its slew of other vacuum solutions to hospitals directly through medical device tenders. “In addition to offering cutting-edge vacuum solutions, we comply with international medical standards and regulations,” informs Beierlein. For example, the company abides by the U.S. NFPA 99, European DIN EN ISO 7396, and British HTM 02-01 quality criteria.

Looking ahead, Becker plans to launch the second generation of its innovative VARIAIR speed flow (VASF) product line and leverage its modular setup to enable the use of VASF2 series in numerous industries. With its low voltage DC drives and suitable frequency converters Becker’s new VASF generation is the optimal solution especially for the medical sector. “We are on the path to improve and introduce more quality products with a modular design to enable seamless operation and customisation based on client-specific needs,” explains Beierlein.
